Ever tried typing into your smartphone while running really fast? For the purpose of this article I just tried and let me tell you, it’s not easy. Vlingo is a ‘Virtual assistant’ that responds to a variety of voice commands. For example, to send a text message simply say “Text Claire Run Zombies are coming” and Vlingo will send a text message to that person on your behalf. It is surprisingly accurate, even if you are out of breath. You can also search Google, send an email, update social networks, get directions and hear incoming messages through this very smart application. An essential tool then if you’re unable to type – perhaps due to running away, or because your hands are covered in a close friend’s blood and you don’t want to smudge your touch screen.
